In recent years, the need for faster and more efficient processing of artwork files within prepress departments has significantly increased. Since its inception, Hybrid Software has been delivering innovative and comprehensive solutions for the label and packaging market through PACKZ, a state-of-the-art PDF editor. This allows companies to produce high-quality, print-ready files within a short timeframe using its dedicated features.
Kolibri Labels, specializing in the printing of self-adhesive labels, has been operating since 1964 and is based in ‘s-Heerenberg, the Netherlands. Markwin Buiting, owner of Kolibri Labels, explains: “For over 60 years, we’ve been combining expertise and craftsmanship to professionally advise our customers on how to maximize the value of their labels.”
Due to its growth, Kolibri Labels found it a logical step to switch to the PACKZ editor. “All PACKZ functionalities are developed based on customer feedback, making it very intuitive for prepress operators. At Hybrid Software, the customer is central, and it’s affirming when dynamic companies like Kolibri recognize this,” says Neal Inghelbrecht, Benelux sales manager at Hybrid Software.
Automation For Multiple Printing Techniques
Meeting customer needs is a shared vision of both companies. Kolibri Labels offers a wide range of self-adhesive labels through various printing techniques (offset, screen printing, flexography, and digital inkjet). “Thanks to PACKZ’s speed, we can respond efficiently and smoothly within the prepress department. For each printing technique, we’ve built custom Pactions to automate repetitive tasks, enabling us to create quality artwork more quickly and easily,” a sentiment unanimously shared by Kolibri Labels’ prepress team.
Pactions is a highly valued feature within PACKZ, allowing operators to record and replay actions to automate interactive processes on any design. “We produce all our printing plates in-house, so PACKZ is ideally suited for us. Its user-friendly interface enabled our prepress team to start using it almost immediately, allowing us to meet customer demands faster and more efficiently,” adds Markwin Buiting.
Variable Data Printing
The growing flexibility of digital printing has led to a significant increase in digital presses for self-adhesive labels in recent years. One major advantage of digital printing is its support for variable data printing—a key strength of Hybrid Software and PACKZ. Any object can be treated as variable and linked to a data file, enabling Kolibri to seamlessly manage their digital inkjet press through PACKZ and provide customers with unique labels.
